Reverie is a two person exhibition featuring paintings and prints by Elham Bayati and Christine D’Epiro Abbott.
Opening Reception, March 4, 6-8pm
Daydreams inhabit our spaces.
Bayati’s richly layered paintings present female figures emerging from dense floral patterns and surreal interiors. Her scenes feature familiar objects like potted plants or a folding chair as well as references to the artist’s Persian heritage. Together, they convey a melancholy longing, found in the present moment and connected to another place and time.
D’Epiro Abbott’s colorful works depict abstracted representations of her family’s domestic interior through printmaking methods. Inspired by the occupation of parenthood and her children’s play, repeated imagery emphasizes the ongoing nature of both pursuits. Her hand pulled prints present rooms that are both real and imagined, inviting the viewer into her ordinary and vibrant world.
